Why are you Waiting?

"And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord." [Acts 22:16]

I have a bad habit of waiting until the last minute to do things.  Just this week I had a homework assignment due for school that I knew about for 2 weeks, but I started on it the day before it was due when my professor was out of town and unavailable to help.  You'd think that after years of doing this I would have learned by now!

What's even worse is that some people have this attitude about their salvation.  Most of the lost in this world either don't know they're lost or don't care, but there are many who have read enough Scripture and heard enough sermons and been encouraged by enough Christians to know that they're lost and what they must do to be saved, they simply haven't done so yet.

If you are one of those who knows what you must do to be saved but simply haven't, let me encourage you to act as soon as possible.  It is easy to look forward in time and think we have endless years ahead of us, but in reality we are not guaranteed tomorrow.  How sad would it be to stand before the Lord on the day of judgement knowing you had so many opportunities to follow Him, but just "never got around to it"?  Or if you know someone in that situation, please encourage him to make the right decision.  Study with him, invite him to church, talk with him about his salvation.  Do what you can to give him that little extra nudge he needs to commit his life to Christ.
